Garden work goes wrong when it is quoted vaguely. So we banded ours by area. Each band has a fixed inclusive price covering the survey, the drawings, the planting plan and a named sapling package — written down before anyone picks up a spade.

How we work
Five steps, and no surprises in the middle
1. Listen & look
A free 20-minute call, then a site visit. We measure, photograph, check drainage and take a soil sample. Nothing is proposed before this.
2. Plan & price
A scaled layout, a planting schedule and a line-by-line budget. You see the whole cost before committing to any of it.
3. Prepare the soil
Decompaction, amendment and drainage first. This is the step everyone wants to skip and the one that decides whether the garden lasts.
4. Plant & build
Beds, irrigation, hardscape, then planting in the right season. Every plant labelled and logged in your care calendar.
5. Hand over & teach
A walk-through, a printed care calendar and two follow-up visits. You should be able to run it without us.
Still here afterwards
Optional monthly maintenance, and the phone line stays open either way. Most of our work comes from people we planted for years ago.
Oita growing calendar
There is always something to sow
Kyushu's mild winters and humid summers give you a longer growing year than most of Japan — if you sow to the season rather than to the packet's generic advice.
Sow tomato, aubergine and pepper under cover in February–March; plant out after the last cold snap. Direct-sow carrot, edamame, sweet corn and cucumber from April. Prune spring-flowering shrubs immediately after they finish. Feed fruit trees as the buds swell.
The rainy season drives fungal disease — space plants, mulch, and water at the root only. Okra and shishito come into their own in the heat. Watch for spider mites once it turns dry, and shade-cloth anything newly planted. Harvest ume in June.
The best sowing window of the year. Daikon, hakusai, spinach, mizuna and komatsuna all go in now with far less pest pressure. Plant trees and shrubs — autumn root growth gives them a season's head start. Clear and bin all diseased fallen leaves.
Dormant-season structural pruning on deciduous trees. Dormant oil spray for scale and overwintering mites. Cold sweetens spinach and mizuna, so keep picking. Start chilli and tomato on a heat mat in February. Turn the compost, and plan next year on paper.
